Colonel Mustard, in the Observatory, With the Gun

Sat Mar 14, 2009, 9:22 PM
Just replacing my old journal entry, it's only been up like 3 months. Anyways.

A lot has happened in my life, but it's all fairly irrelevant.

I am seeing a therapist and a doctor in Flint, both of whom have been really helpful so far.

My boyfriend and I, while we took a break, are back together now. Our 4 year anniversary is next Thursday, on the 19th. He graduates college at the end of this semester, at which time we're going to be getting an apartment together.

I do have a job now. I work for Speedway, a gas station. The pay is minimum wage, and I don't get very many hours, but the boss seems to like me, and I'm steadily getting increased hours and responsibilities. I got my first check, 117 dollars. Not much, but I've been trying to find a job for the last 4 or 5 months, so it felt really good to get it.

I'm not planning to return to school anytime soon. While I would love to continue art school, at this time in my life it's not financially plausible, and I have no desire to go to a school that will do nothing to further my art career. So, for now, a job and a place will have to do.

I received my first commission recently, and like any self respecting artist, I have put it off for weeks. Hooray. However the commissioner has been exceedingly patient, so that's good.

I'm trying to get into writing, more, though I haven't been in the mood to draw, I still have the urge to create, so I'm working on back story as well. A close friend of mine just finished his manuscript, and I do the concept art and character depictions for his novel, so you'll be seeing a lot of that coming up. Hopefully when his novel gets published I'll get my name out there a little. :p He's been great to work with/for, and I wish him the best of luck.

Then my boyfriend is also writing his novel. He's only had one story published, but he continues to submit short stories to magazines in hopes of getting a start there. So, we're both going to be poor artists. But, we're both doing what we love, and there's not much more you can ask for.

Bear with me, I know I update only once in a blue moon, but I really like DeviantART, it's something nice to come to, to see the people here, the art here, it's inspiring. While there is some unnecessary drama, my experience has largely been good, and I'm glad I have an account.

Anyways, that's just a general update, how things are going. Keep your eyes open. I am alive. :p
